Places to Take Pictures in Toronto

Travelling is a unique experience in our lives, and there is only one way to make the memory last forever: by taking pictures.  As Karl Lagerfeld said, “What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” Every tourist may want to take a lot of pictures to show to their families, friends or just as a hobby. Toronto is an extraordinary city to explore and take good pictures in because you can always discover new places to go. A good way to get different angles of the city is by choosing different themes for your photographs, such as popular places, panoramic views and parks. Not only that, but you can also have a great experience and develop your artistic skills.

When you first come to Toronto, it is not so difficult to find out tips where to go and how to explore the city.  As a tourist, there are a few tourist spots you must see before you leave, such as the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium. The reason you should go to each of these places is quite simple: they give you a totally different perspective of the city and its landscape.

The CN Tower is the highest point in Toronto, with a glass floor and an outdoor observation level, at the equivalent height of 112 storeys. You can pay just to go up and get a good view of the city,  you can also have a dinner in the 360 Restaurant or you go for the EdgeWalk and have the most thrilling adventure of your life by walking outside the tower attached to a safety rail.

Ripley’s Aquarium is the largest in Canada boasting the biggest collection of sharks in North America. There are around 15,000 species of marine animals and more than 100 interactive attractions. The Distillery District is a historic precinct where you can see a mix of old and new architecture. It is an inspiring place to take pictures and experience good food. But other than the usual vacation snaps, you can also find places to take panoramic pictures and get a complete vision of the city.

It is amazing when you get those postcards with beautiful pictures showing panoramic views of the city. But it would be fascinating if you could create your own, don’t you think? Some of those places are located not so far from downtown as Polson Pier, Humber Bay and Toronto Island. I usually get photography tips from blogs and one of my favorite about Toronto is gabynocanada.com. It’s a blog by a Brazilian girl who has been living in Toronto since 2010.

Polson Pier and Humber Bay are placed in opposite sides so you can get two different aspects of the city.  But Toronto Island is based in the middle of these two places. The only way to get into Toronto Island is by taking a ship which coast $7,25 for adults. You can check the ferry schedule at toronto.ca. People normally go there to have a picnic with family and friends and make a barbecue. You can rent a bike there or before you get the ship and try to take pictures from several angles. But the delightful view is on the sunset when you have the perfect vision of the city with a beautiful natural light. Moreover parks are also nice places to take panoramic and spectacular pictures in Toronto city.

Toronto has more than 1,500 parks to explore and enjoy with friends.  According to toronto.ca, there are a few parks where you can get awesome images and some of them are: High Park, Scarborough Bluffs and Toronto Music Garden. To get a complete list of them, go online at toronto.ca.

The High park is identified as one of the most important natural zone in Toronto. In High Park you can find a zoo, a sports courts, picnic areas, playgrounds and a huge trail to walk with off-leash dogs (all fenced). Once a year torontonians expect to go to High Park and see the cherry blossoms bloom,  it’s a kind of tradition that happens in spring time. So, you can capture the perfect image for your album or postcard.

Scarborough Bluffs or Bluffers park, which in my opinion has one of the most impressive view among Toronto’s parks, is located in the Scarborough district of Toronto city. It stretch for about 15 km along the Lake Ontario shore and there is a walking trail that lead you through the park. There are many others places and also a bright and beautiful beach connected to Bluffer’s park. It’s not so easy to get there, but I can assure you that it’s worth the effort.

The Toronto Music Garden has a peculiar architecture inspired by the spirit of music, dance and artistic delight. If you are interested there a few free concerts that you can enjoy on thursdays and fridays, the schedule is available at harbourfrontcentre.com. The Music Garden is located at Queens Quay West and if you keep walking straight you will see a range of parks on that avenue. But if walk through the city rather than take the subway you will be able to know a new place every day and go forward these tips.

To conclude, traveling is an experience that changes ours perspective of the world and taking pictures is a way to turn each experience memorable. You can learn new abilities from it, share your special moments with your family or you can earn the most precious gift in the world: friends.
